community based programs.

Purpose or
Objectives of the Course
Understand at what stage diversion
occurs in the criminal justice system and the rationales for diversion
Explain effectiveness, goals, and
legal issues involved in pretrial intervention
Discuss jail conditions, cost of
jailing and issues that should be considered in the incarceration and
reintegration of offenders.
Compare probation and parole
Explain the organization and
management of probation and parole.
Develop strategies for providing
referrals and treatment.
Demonstrate a heightened awareness of
themselves in an community-based field experience.
Relate research from professional
literature to community-based corrections.
